My primary area of research seeks to incorporate Molecular tools for understanding the phylogenetics of insects, mostly butterflies and mosquitoes. These includes use of molecular markers for finding out the genome sequences and biotype variations to determine the extent of gene flow and the influence of ecological factors/host plant on both processes. My Second area of interest is Chemical and Molecular ecology of tritrophic interactions: theoretical and applied aspects of insect-plant interactions involving natural enemies (parasitoids, and pathogens), plants, and herbivores. It includes nutritive substances and allelochemicals as plant defensive substances. My interests are also in Integrated Pest management using RNAi mediated technology, use of botanical, microbial pest control agents and the mechanism of insecticide resistance in pest insects.
