Born in a beautiful village of South Kashmir, i have always been fascinated by the snow laden Mountains, Coniferous Forests, Crystal Clear Water Streams and by the Apple Orchads that we own. Being a son of a Farmer, i developed an extreme love for Forests and Agricultural fields from my early childhood.
I pursued Masters in Botany from Department of Botany, University of Kashmir. There, I was deeply influenced by one of my Ecology teachers Prof. Zafar A Reshi (http://botany.uok.edu.in/Zafar.aspx), which resulted in my long term love for Ecological Sciences.
I joined Centre for Ecological Sciences as a Ph.D student in August-2012. I am broadly interested in Temperate Forest Dynamics. I will be studying Growth-Climate relationships across altitude using Tree Rings. My study area most probably will be in Dachigam National Park, Srinagar Kashmir. The park is rich in Plant diversity and has a huge altitudinal gradient (1700m to 4100ms).
