I grew up in Mumbai, where wildlife may not seem a common phenomenon to everyone but surprisingly was a very important part of my life throughout my childhood. Spending most of my time after school in the backyard observing the small insects, birds, frogs and butterflies added greatly to my knowledge of natural history and also laid the foundations for my interest in Ecology and Wildlife conservation. To pursue these goals I decided to study Zoology at undergraduate level and later specialized in Environmental science during my Masters. Before joining IISC as a PhD student I worked as a project trainee at the Zoological Survey of India, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre and later as a Junior Research Fellow at CES. My broad interests include animal behaviour and plant-animal interactions.
