kartik shanker is not
a household name (yet) and perhaps needs some introduction (yes he is real
unless, like god, specified integer). So.
I was recently described as a Bangalore based naturalist photographer. I no longer live in Bangalore, all ecologists hate to be called naturalists, and as to being a photographer, I am one only in the sense that all wildlife ecologists believe they are, relying on great opportunities rather than talent. Yes, there is some danger of becoming an ecologist, having lived in remote mountains studying small mammals and walked windy beaches in search of sea turtles. But I also have an irrestible urge to put pen to paper, or worse, finger to keyboard. I've written some plays and short stories and intend to do worse. Look for "The scenic route" in Terra Nova, an eclectic `nature and culture' journal published by MIT press. Another story, "Blue moon tide" is to appear soon in a collection of stories about Water. |
