Subject: NORWEGIAN EXAMPLES ON AGENDA 21 FOLLOW-UP REPORTED 19/6 1997 News Release -------------------- NORWEGIAN EXAMPLES ON AGENDA 21 FOLLOW-UP REPORTED Just as the delegations start arriving in New York for the Earth Summit+5 - the major international Agenda 21 follow-up and evaluation meeting next week, some of the 'major groups' (to use Agenda 21 terminology) in Norway timely present their success stories and practical examples in a report, available on paper and on Internet (http://www.grida.no/prog/norway/ungass/). Partnership for Change is the name of the report. It is jointly elaborated by most of the 'major groups' in Norway, including the municipalities, labour and business, NGOs, the research community, the educational sector and the Sami people, the indigenous people of Norway. The work has been co-ordinated by the Ministry of Environment. The report provides around 50 practical examples of Agenda 21 follow-up in Norway within the various sectors. These range from the training programme "The Natural Way" for employees in companies which regard eco-efficiency as a competetive asset, to "Inky Arms and his Eco-detectives" a nation-wide club for children with 10,000 members. The report is available in both English and Norwegian The on-line version of the report is found at http://www.grida.no/prog/norway/ungass/ The paper report can be ordered from The Norwegian State Pollution Control Authority Stromsveien 96 P.O.
