Nearly all countries of the world have established some form of mechanism to follow up on the Rio Agreements. A number of countries have initiated official institutions that include both governmental and civil society participation; many others are in various stages of formation.

The Earth Council is proud to present this second edition of the Directory of National Councils for Sustainable Development. It is an instrument to foster the exchange of ideas and experiences and to promote networking within and between regions and continents.
