1. COMMISSION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

ESTABLISHED: 1994

MISSION: The National Commission for Sustainable Development (NCSD) was created by uniting the former Commission for International Relations and the Advisory Board of the Deputy Minister for Ecological Policy. The NCSD supports: interministerial coordination of activities; preparation of national action plans (environmental action plan, sustainable development action strategy); preparation and implementation of important environmental projects within the programmes of foreign assistance; and preparation of national environmental performance reviews.

2. COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR THE ENVIRONMENT/ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

ESTABLISHED: 1978, as the Commission for the Environment of the Academy of Sciences; restructured after 1989.

MISSION: The main mission of the Coordinating Council for the Environment is to contribute to a more extensive application of scientific knowledge when shaping future environmental policy in the Czech Republic, and to present to the general public in a more understandable form the core of the research conducted in the environmental sphere, as well as possibilities for its application. The priority will be to analyze, coordinate, and synthesize results of research projects related to Agenda 21.
