A Cuban nongovernmental organization, Movimiento Cubano por la
Paz y la SoberanĦa de los Pueblos, held a conference on 26-28 May
1993, entitled "EcologĦa, Desarollo y Paz" (Ecology, Development
and Peace). Topics for discussion included disarmament,
environmental education, indigenous movements, ecology in relation
to culture, preservation of the environment and perspectives on Rio
and projections for the 21st Century. Participants included
intellectuals, ecologists, pacifists, and political analysts.
